With Dutch wool, made from their own sheep and goats, The Knitwit Stable produces The Knitwit Label consisting of knitted cardigans, sweaters and accessories. They knit themselves, only on request. Every item is unique, there is no stock and therefore no waste. The Knitwit Label is completely sustainable and transparent. You can follow the exact production process from goat to yarn.

Mini-knitting factory

The Knitwit Stable also provides master classes for professionals and students from the fashion industry. They focus on sustainability and transparency and delve deep into the chain, giving you even more insight into the entire production process of knitted clothing. The Knitwit Stable gives these masterclasses on their farm and in the studio using their own animals and knitting machines.

Dutch wool

The Knitwit Stable thinks it is a shame that almost all knowledge of wool has gone abroad. The Netherlands produces approximately two million kilos of wool per year. Shearing the sheep is more expensive than the wool yield and so it is seen as a waste product. It is sold to China for next to nothing or goes to waste processing. Wool processing almost no longer exists in the Netherlands. Almost all knowledge has gone to China. A shame because wool has beautiful properties and is a natural product. Therefore The Knitwit Stable aims to bring it back.

The Knitwit Stable

Founder Reina Ovinge worked for more than twenty-five years as a buyer and producer in the fashion industry. After working in the knitting industry for almost twenty years and having visited factories and spinning mills countless times, she found it inspiring and enlightening to spend a week behind the knitting machines in China itself. The effort and labor behind a cardigan with a final retail price of €19.95 became painfully clear. After selling her successful company Fully Fashion, with which she produced millions of pieces for brands and chain stores, she started The Knitwit Stable: a mini factory in the village of Baambrugge where she sustainably produces yarn and wool from her own Angora goats and Merino sheep. The yarns can also be ordered in the webshop of The Knitwit Stable.
